What is Different about Puresoul Ghee?
At Puresoul we cook our ghee slowly using the freshest ingredients and our butter comes from a cooperative of farms in New Zealand. We choose butter from grass-fed cows as it’s a dairy practice that offers a more sustainable type of farming and is also naturally high in vitamins A, D, E, and K, Butyrate’s and CLA’s.

According to ancient Ayurvedic texts, ghee is the golden elixir. It is considered one of Ayurveda’s most potent medicines. It was considered helpful for promoting memory, intelligence, providing energy and for treating ailments such as fever and colic from as far back as 500 BC.
In a more modern interpretation of this tradition, herbs are often mixed with ghee so they can be more easily absorbed by the body. Some other uses include combining warm ghee with honey and turmeric for healing sore throats and upset tummies or for applying topically to heal burns.

Coconut oil makes food taste like coconuts which is not ideal for all dishes. Coconut oil has a higher smoke point than olive oil (171°c), it still produces smoke at low temperatures.
Preventing olive oil from becoming overheated is a constant concern. Once the Olive Oil begins to smoke it has essentially become a trans-fatty acid. Because ghee has a higher smoke point (250°c), it is healthier to cook with and tastes just like butter!
There is a difference between clarified butter and ghee. Clarified butter is made by heating butter then removing the milk solids which have risen to the top. To make traditional ghee butter is brought to a boil and cooked until the moisture is boiled off, and the milk solids (lactose and casein) have settled to the bottom. The milk solids which are on the bottom of the pot are intentionally burned or caramelised which causes the ghee to develop a nutty flavour. Ghee is the pure extraction of oil from butter.
Ghee will last indefinitely, but we recommend 6 to 9 months. There is no need for refrigeration, but it is essential to keep the jar clean, and not use dirty utensils or allow crumbs to come in contact with the ghee.

Ghee is a great substitute any time you use butter, olive oil, or coconut oil. It is easy to work with for baking, and the spreadable texture makes it an excellent match for toast.

When other oils begin to smoke, they become trans-fats. Another added benefit is that it does not require any refrigeration and always maintains a spreadable consistency.
Ghee is the better butter! Ghee is clarified butter that has been heated with the lactose and casein caramelised and reduced and reduced. During the process, milk solids will both float to the top and sink to the bottom. Then the milk solids are triple-filtered, and what remains is the pure, healthy fat-free of lactose and dairy content, and excellent for digestion and metabolism. Because our ghee is made from 100 percent grass-fed butter, it has a beautiful yellow colour and is high in vitamins A, D and E.
